ADOPTION OF TAREKAT QADIRIAH WA NAQSHABANDIYA (TQN) IN SUFISM AS PSYCHOSPIRITUAL TREATMENT FOR DRUG ADDICTION AND ALCOHOL

ABSTRACT

Drugs is the biggest enemy of the country and its dependency is one of the worrisome social issues. Hence, various approaches and initiatives have been taken by some parties to solve this problem. However, it is still insurmountable, even many among former drug addicts who had received treatment at rehabilitation centers before taking drugs again. Similarly, alcohol addiction problems that damage the intellect and soul were difficult to treat. On that account, the study of the approach of drug dependency treatment by Tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah (TQN) has been conducted to highlight an alternative solution that could be the best solution in dealing with the problem of drug and alcohol addiction in the country through the practice of Tarekat in Pondok Remaja Inabah 1 Malaysia, Kuala Nerang. This study uses library study methods and interview methods. Two respondents were interviewed respectively represent the former drug addicts and former addicts alcohol to obtain important data. The findings show that the three treatment methods namely repentance bath, dhikr and prayer, repentance bath is the most important and essential treatment method in the recovery process. Furthermore, the outcome of this case study clearly demonstrates that the approach to drug addiction treatment by Tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah (TQN) is the best modus so far for having successfully recover approximately 11,000 people drug addicts who had returned to be with the community. Therefore, this study suggests that the responsible parties emphasize the spiritual aspect in human development process such as the approach adopted by Tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah (TQN) as an advancement to the existing rehabilitation treatment methods.
